Two Ventura Attorneys Named Partner

Myers, Widders, Gibson, Jones & Feingold, LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of two attorneys to partner. Michael S. Martin, who focuses his practice on civil litigation matters and construction law, and Jill Friedman, a trial attorney, have been named partners in the firm.

 

“We are pleased to have Mike and Jill as partners in the firm,” said Managing Partner Kelton Lee Gibson. “Mike has been with the firm for over 15 years, starting while still in law school and Jill is an exceedingly talented trial lawyer and our first female partner. I know they will both be instrumental in the firm’s continuing success.”

 

Mr. Martin’s practice emphasizes civil litigation including business disputes; commercial personal property and real property lease disputes; construction defect actions; commercial receivables and collections; and judgment enforcement. Mr. Martin’s practice also focuses on construction law issues. He reviews and drafts commercial and residential construction agreements and assists contractors preserve their collection rights by preparing, filing and enforcing construction-related liens, bonds and stop notices.

 

Additionally, he is experienced with resolving construction licensing issues and he represents general contractors, specialty contractors, heavy equipment lessors, and material suppliers in Federal and State Court litigation and in California State Licensing Board mediations and arbitrations.

 

In 2013, 2014 and 2015, Mr. Martin was named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the field of business litigation. Mr. Martin first joined Myers Widders as a clerk, began studying law, and earned his law degree from Ventura College of Law in 2004.

 

Ms. Friedman has 28 years of litigation experience and has been very successful in trying civil cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. She is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates, and is the only Ventura County-based female member in the California Coast chapter, which includes Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Currently, she serves as chapter treasurer and will be president in 2018.

 

Ms. Friedman was nominated for the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2012. The Pacific Coast Business Times has named her one of the “Top 50 Women in Business” and “Who’s Who in Attorneys.” In 2013, legal published Martindale-Hubbell named her as one of “Los Angeles’ Women Leaders in the Law.” Ms. Friedman earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1984, and received her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1987.
